Cuneyt Arkin (1937), aka George Arkin, sure one of the most important actors of Turkish Movies.
First casting 1964, (Gurbet Kuslari, a Turkish classical by Halit Refig)
Acted in many different castings. Romantic star of 1950-60'sThan, during 70's: Strict but humanist police officier, head character of Turkish martial arts (possible to call "Turkish Jackie Chan!"), head character of Turkish Westerns.
Head character of Turkish Historical adventures and serials, Also always the actor of Turkish sci-fi cult movies. "The Man who saves the world" is a cult film classic all over the world.
He became a director also during 80-90's, not succesful movies about social life.
Always cool, attractive, special body effects, "Clark Gable" lookings, characteristic dubbing.
Early years he was mostly the head character of love stories, sure with his good looking face. Mostly the story was about the love of a poor guy who is in love to a rich girl. This (Poor man - rich women / Rich man - poor woman) was a common subject of the Turkish movies during 60's in Turkey.

He was also the actor of many serious clasical black & white Turkish movies. But he won his popularity especially during 70' by action movies.
70' was a very active period of Turkish cinema endustry, shooted thousand of movies. Arkin was the head character of many historical, action and karate movies. Sure he was always a brave hero. Hi was very active with his fists, kicks, swords and guns. A kind of early Jackie Chan.
"Kara Murat" / "Malkacoglu" / "Battal Gazi" are the well known characters of Turkih serial historical hero movies.

1970-80 period is also important about Turkish sci-fi movies. Some of them was imitated of clasic sci-fi scripts (BADI - ET), some of them original. These movies were shooted in a very short time, very low budgets. So they are mostly funny, that's why some of them became cult movies later.
"The Man Who Saves The World" is well known cult movie classical today, a Star Trek version, and sure Arkin was the commander of the star ship.

Later periods, Arkin is also a director of social themed scripts. Mostly a police officier, beside the law, a caring father. These were not very succesful movies.
